Kim Jong Il commands the 4th largest army in the world?

You know who used to command the 4th largest army in the world? That is, before it was annihilated in 1991.

If you think about it, it is quite surprising and the people really deserve our sympathy. Even in the most communist of countries, that is the USSR, the intelligentsia made sure that some progress was made even on the social and political level. Even though it was Glasnost which "killed" of the Soviet Union, there were known "dissidents" even when the regime was at its strongest. Here, in NK, they all follow blindly, something which I can't imagine seeing anywhere. Even Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini had some sort of opposition which was known to the outside world and tried to fight from within and we consider them to be the greatest criminals in human history. Looks like NK might just make it in the history book and the fourth completely totalitarian state.

I say let them be, stop all help, stop all trade and the whole thing will collapse in a matter of months, maybe 2 years. Of course, even I am not prepared to accept the high human loss involved. So it is a delicate matter for the international community. The best idea I have heard so far was limit their nuclear proliferation, limit to a certain degree weapons trade and help the civilians. Yet then the question is, how long will the regime take to collapse, if ever...
